The 2012 Doomsday Prophecy: A Psychological Self-fulfillment (Thursday, June 2, 2011)

A doomsday prophecy can greatly materialize just from the beliefs in the prophecy itself, becoming what is termed a 'self-fulfilling prophecy.'

If the fear of a "chain of events unleashing" on late December of 2012 is actually widespread in the great majority of the world’s population, it could ultimately result in a fear epidemic that changes peoples life’s at both mental and environmental levels. This would leave a void of vulnerabilities for actual physical events to manifest, like in the example of a deliberate organized waive of criminal acts taking place. Otherwise, I’m not a conspiracy plot theorists, but there have been instances that greater organizations or government bodies have actually dirtied themselves, or are currently dirtying themselves in this kinds of negative activities, another possibility that is always open and worthy to keep in mind. So, in a shorter explanation, people can actually self-initiate a worldwide doomsday scenario indirectly. This makes the belief in a self-initiated, well defined, and area(s) specific targeting (as advertised) doomsday scenario a big misconception, if not one on the list of the greatest misconceptions of all time.

The Mayans stopped their calendar at 2012 simply because it was the end of their time cycle. Why would any civilization calculate time so far as even more than 12 thousand years ahead of them not knowing if they’d even be alive? Yes, this end-of-cycle period was believed by the Mayans themselves to be accompanied by physical environmental changes to “initiate the stage for a new age” in the physical world, but these changes can range from simple weather patterns (i.e. El Niño) to the actual well feared end of the world. So, it’s definitely not certain to conclude that the world will actually end. The world can actually end from a dozen other universe triggered scenarios beyond our control at this very moment. So, the fear itself it’s just a great misplacement of thought in my opinion. Time on Earth ends when that time comes, not by our imaginations.
