John 14: A Place For You in God's Kingdom (You Already Know The Way)

A Study of The Words of Jesus in John Chapter 14
God's Kingdom (artist's rendition)

John 14 (Aramiac-to-English)
1. "Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God and believe in me." *
2. "There are many lodgings in my Father's house, and if not, I would have told you, because I go to prepare a place for you."
3. "And if I go prepare a place for you, I shall come again and bring you to join me, that where I am you shall be also."
4. "And where I am going, you know, and you know the way."
5. Thoma said to him, "Our Lord, we do not know where you are going and how can we know the way?"
6. Yeshua said to him, "I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Way and The Truth and The Life; no man comes to my Father but by me alone."
7. "If you had known me, you also would have known my Father, and from this hour you do know him and you have seen him." ~ Jesus Christ (Yeshua/The Son of God)

Here, in these first opening seven verses of John 14, Jesus is re-assuring us that we should not worry; opening up the chapter with a sense of security and freedom for us:
"Let not your heart be troubled" (have no worries of the following matter, he's not lying to us). If he has left us, he will come back after preparing a place for you and me in the Kingdom of God, if we believe, have no worries, and we are confident that he's not lying to us.

He also proposes to us that we already know, as disciples of truth, where He's going, and that we know the way. Why? (But why does he imply this term?)

After one of his close disciples asks Him, he replies; "I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Way and The Truth and The Life; no man comes to my Father but by me alone." Reference: (Genesis 1:26) And God said, "Let us make man according to *our image and likeness," ("our image and likeness" means that there was more than one person present, which can only be three possible identities that we know are eternal from reading the Scriptures: God The Father, God The Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. So, in reality, Jesus can say the He is the Living God as well as God the Father, because He also shares the attribute of being able to create things (someone we call "a God," God The Son/The Son of God). Furthered more, he says in verse 7, "If you had known me, you also would have known my Father, and from this hour you do know him and you have seen him." Why does He say this? Isn't God The Father someone else, as He also tells us in various other verses, is a separate entity? Let's look at a few things to help us understand this: John 4:24 King James Version (KJV) "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." ~ Apostle John (John the prophet/revelator). So, here on this verse, earlier in the Gospel of John, he is telling us that God is a Spirit. So, if God is a Spirit, then the only person that He could be referring to here is God The Father, since Jesus was physically present with us here on Earth. So, here we see that God is not a human creation like us (of course), He is a Spirit. But Jesus says that if you have seen Him, you have also seen the Father. So then, the only physical person that we can see here is Jesus Himself, if God is a Spirit. So, then here again Jesus is telling us that He is also our Father and creator (back to my reference of Genesis 1:26: we were made in the image of all three: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, so we have a soul that is spiritual and with characteristics of all three-in-one).

In verse 9, one more time, Jesus makes His point; "All this time I am with you and you have not known me Phillip? Whoever has seen me has seen The Father, and how do you say, 'Show us The Father'?" Jesus is also our father, because He also had a hand in creating us. So, He is making sure that Phillip is confident in knowing that He is also our father.

Verses 10 through 16:
10. * "Do you not believe that I am in my Father and my Father in me? The words which I am speaking, I am not speaking from myself, but my Father who dwells within me, he does these works." (Here Jesus is making it clear that God is dwelling in Him as a Spirit. In other words, the Spirit of God The Father is with Him all the time.)

11. "Believe that I am in my Father and my Father in me, otherwise believe because of the works." (If you don't believe, then look at the works I perform.)

12. "Timeless truth, I tell you: 'whoever believes in me, those works which I have done he will also do, and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to the presence of my Father.' " 13. "And anything that you will ask in my name I shall do for you, that The Father may be glorified in his Son."
14. "And if you will ask me in my name, I shall do this." (Anything that we ask Jesus for, as true believers, and it is a profitable thing for us (of course), Jesus is presenting to God The Father in heaven. Reference: 1 John 5:7 King James Version (KJV) "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." ~ Apostle John/the prophet/revelator)

Verses 15 through 31:
15. "If you love me, keep my commandments." (Keep the commandments of God The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, which are one-in-the same/The Law/The Ten Commandments)

16. "And I shall request from my Father and he will give you another Redeemer of the accursed*, that he will be with you for eternity. (The Helper/The Holy Spirit, which God sent to us as described in Acts 2, after Jesus Had ascended to heaven, as He promised.)

17. "He is The Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it has neither seen him nor known him; but you know him, for he dwells with you and he is in you."

18. "I shall not leave you as orphans, for I shall come to you in a little while." (Jesus is making known to us that He will return, as the prophecies of the rest of the Bible tell us.)

19. "And the world will not see me, but you shall see me; because I live, you also shall live." (Jesus will live in spirit with us, and we see His works [if we have the eyes to see and the ears inclined to His words])

20. At that day, you will know that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you."
21. "Whoever has my commands and keeps them, he does love me, but he who loves me shall be loved from my Father and I shall love him, and I shall show myself to him." (Jesus will make Himself manifest spiritually to you at a personal/intimate level.)

22. Yehuda said to him (he was not Scariota), "My Lord, how is it you are going to show yourself to us and not the same to the world?" 23. Yeshua answered and said to him, "Whoever loves me keeps my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and we will make our lodging with him." Here Jesus is telling them that this is happening at a spiritual level, but they're not really understanding what the spiritual concept is. Jesus is telling us that if we regard His words as truth and as reality, and live our lives by them, then His spirit and The Father's spirit will dwell with us.

24. "But he who does not love me does not keep my word, and this word which you are hearing is not mine, but The Father's who has sent me." (He's telling us that God The Father has directly given Him these words which He is speaking, that they come directly from Him.)

25. "I have spoken these things with you while I am with you." 26. "But he, The Redeemer of the accursed, The Spirit of Holiness, whom my Father sends in my name, he will teach you all things and he will remind you of everything whatsoever I have told you." (The Holy Spirit lives in us, guides us, and shows/teaches us new things, who believe in His truth.)

27. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. It is not as the world gives that I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, and do not let it be afraid." (The peace that Jesus brings to us cannot be found from any other source in this fallen world. And for us not be mentally troubled or afraid.)

28. "You have heard that I said to you, 'I am going away, and I am coming to you'; if you had loved me, you would have rejoiced that I am going to join my Father, for my Father is greater than I." 29. "And now, behold, I have told you before it happens, that when it has happened, you may believe." (Jesus makes known to the apostles and disciples ahead of time that He would have to depart from the world and join God the Father again (who is greater than He is), and that He would later come back as the prophecies tell us.)

30. "After this I will not be speaking much with you, for The Prince of the world is coming and he has nothing to use against me*. (Satan, the deceiver of this world, as we know it, is described as the The Prince of this world by Jesus here, as he inherited dominion over or spiritual world through deceiving Adam and Eve, back at the Garden of Eden.)

31. But that the world may know that I love my Father, and just as my Father has taught me, so I have done. Rise up, let us depart from here." ~ Jesus Christ (Yeshua/The Son of God)

How Does God Know and Dominate Everything that Exists?

Well, how *does God know it all? How does He dominate everything that exists? Get ready to go on a mind-expanding exercise!

There is a quantum physics observation that gives us physical prove that God himself if sustaining the universe and reality as we know it, live, and every millisecond of reality as we speak. The video below this wonderful quote of scriptures expands on how this scientific observation comes alive.

No wonder you don't hear much about quantum physics on TV, it blows any atheistic theory out of its socks clean without any possible challenge. We're at a point when the mainstream media is rather being kept quiet about the latest scientific experiments and discoveries due to the complex level of knowledge that is being discovered. Information that clearly suggests that there is a force (forces) that are beyond our physical plain of reality that we cannot control or predict, but which are still directly influencing our physical reality at the same time (intrinsic to space and time).

Nehemiah 9:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
You alone are the Lord;
You have made heaven,
The heaven of heavens, with all their host,
The earth and everything on it,
The seas and all that is in them,
And You preserve them all.
The host of heaven worships You.

Acts 17:25-28
New King James Version (NKJV)

25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

Hebrews 1:3 New King James Version (NKJV)

who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person [referring to Jesus Christ], and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Colossians 1:17
New King James Version (NKJV)

17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist [referring to Jesus Christ].

Isaiah 40:26 New King James Version (NKJV)

26 Lift up your eyes on high,
And see who has created these things,
Who brings out their host by number;
He calls them all by name,
By the greatness of His might
And the strength of His power;
Not one is missing.

The Fight Against Evil is Real (Wake-Up Call)

Only the vision of the Word of God the Bible clearly defines evil in the human experience, it's operations, it's grand scheme, and how to arm yourself for it to defeat it. Amen! This is one on the list of attributes that the Bible holds alone the title on and no other text can even come near to it.
What is 'evil'?
To most people evil is only a result of bad decisions and people's thoughts. But how do these thoughts come into play? What and where is the source? Everyone is mostly preoccupied to even wonder about the answers to these questions, and that's another problem within itself; the system (this life) has been designed through the powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12) to keep you distracted from  reality and looking in the wrong places. As soon as Eve gave Satan dominion in our realm his kind and his fallen comrades overpowered us in the spiritual field. This battle against all of us humans is what is 'evil' is within itself at the core. This is where all evil comes from, whether it is a small and tiny evil or a large evil. The act of something intelligently and deliberately aimed to cause harm or foul. Although, with the Word of God we can be sure to be prepared with all the knowledge needed to combat the evil in this world.
How do we know?
Take for instance, you become a fresh (new) believer in the Word of God and Jesus C., a new Christian, you will notice a series of random events that will start to take place, more often than before, that will one in one form or fashion try to stop you from either spending quality time studying the Scriptures or sharing it. You can ask many believers about these scenarios unfolding right in front of them including myself. This is a marker in your life, it's actually not bad altogether. God will let some things happen without harming you in the long run just to show you how close evil will be following you and looking for a chance to pierce your defense (your faith). Even seasoned and advanced faithful believers are tempted and do wrestle with evil frequently, and sometimes even every day.
Beware! Look out!
Beware! Satan (the adversary) and his forces, through the mainstream and operating on sin itself, are fooling many into believing that evil doesn't exist so that they can continue to be full open game. Satan, if you were to ask him would even tell you that he is a Christian himself in the form of an angel of light (James 2:192 Corinthians 11:14), just look at all the false preachers and "Messiahs" around that he has working for him. Note: you cannot see evil if you don't put on the armor against it and drop-down your spiritual vision over your eyes which the Word of God and the Holy Spirit only are able to give you. Another note: moreover, if you keep listening to Satan he will even tell you that he doesn't exist. Some atheists will argue to you that evil exists because "you create it" by believing in the Scriptures, but then you can ask them: how is it then that the Bible is able to create something real to begin with if it's "really just a well written group of fairy tales"? You don't just create situations by thinking about them, that's in the comic books sections for "Super Heroes." There are many ways to trip the atheist mindset on itself (btw), it's just another well advertised system of (desperate) beliefs to conform to the words of men in the name of carnal pleasures. Because with sin as our only guidance we'll just tend to believe in anything but the truth (because it's much easier to swallow). And yet another note: evil operates through all people around you through sin, sin is the stream that it travels within to plot against and upset anything that is ultimately good and godly in our hands. Anyone around you can instantly become a possible agent of evil.

EPHESIANS 6:11-12

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

There's a full out war in every space of our world, if you don't learn about it you'll just be dragged innocently, which is the case for most people unfortunately. Read more about it in the Bible. It's one of the main climax themes of the Bible, the fight of Good and evil.

What Happens After Death? (What does the Bible Tell Us?)

Do you really just live on as a "soul" (a "spirit")? What does God really say to us about death in the Bible? What does it say about "Psychic mediums" and "ghosts"?

You have probably heard by now about your "spirit" being eternal, that the "soul" lives on forever, even after you have read in the Bible that only those saved under Jesus Christ will bear the fruits of eternal life, but still there's a stew of universal eternal life of the "soul" being passed around in the mainstream (for centuries now). To add on that: the term 'reincarnation,' which has even infiltrated the Christian Church in some instances. As a serious believer of The Word of God (the Bible) and Jesus Christ who is our Savior you have gone on a deep journey for the truth, the truth is that you can systematically study the Bible and realize that it is 'The Word of God' by understanding it correctly. That there is no other Holy book that can come close the uniqueness of it. Okay, now lets see what the Bible says about death as a human being:

Matthew 10:28
New King James Version (NKJV)

28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Can the soul be destroyed here? (Yes) What does this verse say expanded altogether? Do not fear those who cannot kill the soul. Why? Because, who gives the soul and who can take it? God and God only (notice the CAPS H for 'Him'). So, fear God because he can judge the soul and destroy it in hell (the soul dies).

Ezekiel 18:20
New King James Version (NKJV)
20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Can the soul be destroyed here? ('Dies,' ...Yes) Furthermore, the son cannot contain guilt (from sin), nor God. Those who are righteous bring themselves righteousness, those who are wicked wickedness.

John 5:28-29

New King James Version (NKJV)
28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

(The dead will be brought physically back to life, *graves here are literal, the spirit does not need a grave. Those who are good under Jesus Christ will be brought back to life to live, those who do evil will be brought back to life only to be condemned.)

Acts 2:29 and 34

New King James Version (NKJV)
29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

(King/prophet David is dead and buried, and his body is with us physically. He is dead in all aspects).

34 “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself:
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
(David did not go to Heaven, God told Jesus [only Him, and no one else] that he would sit at His right hand {prophecy fulfilled in resurrection}.)

Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, and 10

New King James Version (NKJV)
For the living know that they will die;
But the dead know nothing,
And they have no more reward,
For the memory of them is forgotten.
Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished;
Nevermore will they have a share
In anything done under the sun.
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

(We die and once dead we know nothing {no conscious}, no reward, and forgotten. Also their {sins} have died and will not partake in any activity under the sun as we know it.)

Psalm 115:17

New King James Version (NKJV)
17 The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor any who go down into silence.

(The dead can't worship the LORD {all CAPS, meaning God}, nor any who are silenced in hell {go down into}.)

John 11:11-14
New King James Version (NKJV)
11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”
12 Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps he will get well.” 13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep.
14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead.

(Lazarus died in all definition of the word, then of course Jesus later resurrected him.)

So now that we've established that our whole existence is 'living' all at once and that the spirit also dies with the body when we die according to the scriptures, let's see what the Bible says about anything else out there in the mainstream ("ghost appearances"/"spirit visitations" and those who claim to channel them).

What does the Bible say about "Psychic mediums" and "ghosts"?

Isaiah 8:19-20

New King James Version (NKJV)
19 And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? 20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
("Psychic mediums are seeking the dead, but why not God? Why should the living seek the dead? If they do not speak according to The Word of God, it's because there is no truth in them {demonic entities}.)

What does the Bible say about the children of God and Death?

Luke 20:35-36

King James Version (KJV)

35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

(For him who is worthy of salvation and/or resurrection are seen equally unto the angels {God's company} and can't die anymore as they're the children of God and of the resurrection.)

Revelation 21:4

King James Version (KJV)
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away.

(very clear; NO MORE DEATH, sorrow, crying, pain, for all these will go away)

God Bless!
